Ceramic Tint Cost by Vehicle Type
November 10th, 2025. Jason Kimbler, owner, Mother’s Window Tint. Austin.
Ceramic window tint pricing varies by vehicle — sedans, SUVs, and vans all cost different amounts. Here's what to expect in Austin.
Ceramic tint in Austin is the premium film, and its price depends mostly on how much glass your vehicle has.
Sedans, SUVs, and vans
A sedan is the least expensive job. A full-size SUV or van costs more because there’s more glass to cover. Vehicles with oversized glass — like a Tesla with its panoramic roof and oversized windshield — sit at the top of the range.
Add-ons
Add-ons like sunroofs, windshields, and oversized glass push the price up further — those aren’t on every vehicle, so they’re priced separately.
Why ceramic costs more
The reason ceramic costs more than carbon or metallized is what it does. It blocks the most heat, lasts the longest, and won’t interfere with your electronics. In Texas, that heat rejection is what pays for itself — your AC cycles less, your fuel economy improves, and the cabin stays comfortable without the darkness.
The cheap quote
One thing to watch: the cheapest quote isn’t always the best deal. Cheap film bubbles, peels, and turns purple within a couple of years — and then you’re paying again to have it redone. Quality film installed by a shop that knows what it’s doing is an investment that lasts the life of the car. If it doesn’t, we replace it at no charge under a lifetime manufacturer warranty.
What to ask before you buy
Before you hand over your keys, ask three things.
- Does the film carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty — and does the shop honor it, or do you have to deal with the manufacturer directly?
- Does the shop install the film themselves, or do they subcontract it out?
- If the film bubbles or peels, will they inspect it for free and fix it?
Those three answers tell you more about a shop than any price tag. A shop that stands behind its work will answer all three without hesitation. One that won’t is telling you something.
And if you want to know why cheap tint fails in the first place, our post on why cheap tint jobs bubble and peel covers exactly that.
Do it at Mother’s and Save!
That’s the real math. The upfront cost is real, but the savings on fuel and AC over a year or two often cover it. That’s why we say Do it at Mother’s and Save! — not just because our pricing is fair, but because the tint itself pays you back.
