How Much Does Window Tint Cost in Austin?
November 3rd, 2025. Jason Kimbler, owner, Mother’s Window Tint. Austin.
Window tinting in Austin typically runs a few hundred dollars depending on your vehicle and film type. Here's what to expect and why quality matters.
Window tinting in Austin usually runs somewhere between two hundred and six hundred dollars for a full car, depending on the vehicle and the film you choose. That’s the honest range — and it’s worth knowing before you walk into a shop.
The film
The biggest price driver is the type of material you choose. Dyed film is the choice if you want your window tint to fail sooner than later — it fades, bubbles, and peels within a couple of years. We don’t carry it. The films we carry are carbon, metallized, and ceramic — all guaranteed not to fade. Carbon and metallized sit in the middle of the range, and ceramic is the premium choice: it blocks the most heat, lasts the longest, and won’t interfere with your electronics. If you’re in Texas, ceramic is the one that actually pays for itself through lower AC use.
The vehicle
Vehicle type is another price driver. A compact sedan is the least expensive job. Trucks and SUVs cost more because they have more glass on them — and more glass means more film, more labor, and more care on those oversized windshields and roofs. Teslas and other glass-heavy vehicles sit at the top of the range.
The cheap quote
One thing to watch: the cheapest quote isn’t always the best deal. Cheap film bubbles, peels, and turns purple within a couple of years — and then you’re paying again to have it redone. Quality film installed by a shop that knows what it’s doing is an investment that lasts the life of the car. If it doesn’t, we replace it at no charge under a lifetime manufacturer warranty.
Do it at Mother’s and Save!
That’s the real math. The upfront cost is real, but the savings on fuel and AC over a year or two often cover it. That’s why we say Do it at Mother’s and Save! — not just because our pricing is fair, but because the tint itself pays you back.
A compact car in Austin sits at the low end of that few-hundred-dollar range. A truck, an SUV, or a glass-heavy Tesla sits higher because there is more glass and more labor. The lifetime warranty is on the film we installed. If it bubbles, peels, or fades, we replace it. That is the number to ask about, not only the price on the first day.
